5 minutes with ECE alumnus Gibran Mohammad

Growing up in a coastal town in Indonesia made me aware of the importance of coast area and also the ocean. It contains abundant potentials if we know how to manage it sustainably. In order to understand better about this field, in 2013 I decided to take this ECE program in Southampton University and NOC – one of the best research centres for coastal and ocean related studies. The program gave me valuable and fun experiences such as doing mini research, having boat trips and carrying out sea bed survey, and also beach excursions. The skills from ECE program are very useful in my daily activity as an Engineer for coastal zone development in the Coastal Dynamic Research Centre (BPPT) Indonesia. More, understanding about coastal defence and management would be critical for the developer in coastal zone.

The knowledge and skills that obtained from ECE program are very strategic, especially for those who are involved in coastal zone development.
