MSc ECE student Nerea Palacios has been awarded the Mike Clark Award 2015 http://solentforum.org/forum/research/Professor_Mike_Clark_Award/  to support her MSc Research on “Adaptation to Coastal Flooding in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight”. This will support her fieldwork and other research costs.  A sumamry of her project is given below:

“The coastal towns of Cowes and Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight are at significant risk of flooding. This flooding can happen under different conditions resulting in various flow paths and depths. The project will investigate different defence types and alignments for these two towns that take into consideration engineering, environmental, social and economic factors that ensure the best solution for the community is being delivered. To achieve this aim a LISFLOOD model will be used to analyse a number of scenarios with different sea level rises and propose potential measures against floods.”
